Blairgowrie
Just 4.6 miles from Chapelton Cottage, Blairgowrie is in the heart of Perthshire's berry growing farmland.
The town used to run many jute mills, evidenced by the buildings and lades alongside the River Ericht. Numerous carved standing stones in the surrounding districts provide a fascinating reminder of the area's Pictish inhabitants.
Walkers of the Cateran Trail generally start the 64 mile circular walk from Blairgowrie. This way-marked trail is immersed in beautiful and varied terrain and landscapes. Of course, you don't have to walk all of it at once!
Amenities in town include: Supermarkets, delicatessen and shops; cottage hospital, medical centre and chemists; cafes, pubs and restaurants; fuel, tyres and motor mechanics; veterinary surgeries; cycle repair shops and a riverside play park.
